Have you noticed that all of the Russian female names end with "a" ? (check here) It must be something about the grammar...
Note: Gregor reminded about the name " Lyubov' ". He is indeed right but many Lyubov's (Любовь which means love in Russian) use Lyuba instead (Люба)
