Miss World is..

...this year not from South America but from Russia. Ksenia Vladimirovna Sukhinova is crowned Miss World 2008.

She was born August 26, 1987 and this makes her maybe one of the last Miss Russia's who were born in USSR. I agree that ths is a very unnecessary fact and hereby present Ksenia's photos.

She is 1.78m tall, a natural blonde and is a real West Siberian from the city of Nizhnevartovsk (where a lot of the Russian oil comes from)

Miss Russia 2008

Some posts have become a tradition on this blog and Miss Russia is one of them. This year the second most anticipated contest in Russia (the first one is the Most Radioactive Cities contest), Miss Russia 2008 (or National Beauty Contest as they call it) was held in the city of Petrozavodsk in The Karelian Republic (a mostly forested land through the border to Finland). Boring Information: The name Petrozavodsk comes from Petrovsky Zavod (something like Peter's Factory) in reference to the iron foundries founded by Peter the Great to supply the new Baltic fleet with cannons. The city evolved upon those factories and became a prominent settlement in the North.

Miss Russia 2007

The last time I blogged something about the Miss Russia, there has been a flood of visitors to my site. (yes, I am using Google Analytics and know where you are stalking my site from...) So I have decided not only to drive my site stats into hyperdrive but also quench the thirst of requests about Russian women photos on my blog, which I deliberately don't usually post, not to cause any depressions among non-russia residents.

Every year Russia makes a real hard decision ,of course not about the nuclear warheads or about leaking power plants but, to select the most beautiful girl in a country where "ugly" isn't a term used for women and "beautiful" has ceased to be a compliment.

Ready for the jury

This year, Natalya Andreeva, a 23 year-old Moscowite, is Miss Russia 2007. I don't want to give hints about my preferences but I can say that a lot of my buddies are discontent about the decision.

Miss Russia 2006

All public interest was on the newest Miss Russia 2006 to represent the nation known as having the most beautiful women on earth (now slightly being beaten by Ukraine).

I know that the conception of beauty changes (or evolves) through decades; but these people are really look like normal russian people you can see on the streets (selling cucumbers or theatre tickets)...
