Russian Christmas...Part 1

Now everyone knows that I am a hardline fan of soviet kitsch-art (and the so-called Socialist Realism)...

Here are some New Year Cards from the (good) old times:

(Boring detail: "С Новим Гогом" means "Happy New Year")

Actually this is not a smiley new year card. It is the Karl Marx reincarnate, dressed as Santa Claus (or the Red Father of Communism), dancing with the new generation of soviet cosmonaut kids on a space station (Notice the new year tree...nice)

A new year card to commemorate the world's first nuclear icebreaker, NS Lenin. (Notice the red star touring around the moon)

(Boring detail: At its launch in 1957 the icebreaker NS Lenin became both the world's first nuclear powered surface ship and the first nuclear powered civilian vessel. Lenin was placed into ordinary operations in 1959 and officially decommissioned in 1989. (Nice Idea, why would you try so hard to break the rock-solid polar ice, than fly over it??)...maybe they need so many ice for cocktails of the Soviet People...All the Drunks of the World, UNITE! We have Free and Plentiful Ice for All!)

Now here is how the Moscowites rehearse their record breaking attempt by converging the most amount of Santa Clauses in a a single city:

(Boring detail: Actually, they are commemorating the battle of Moscow (...but being dressed as Santa Claus and the Snowqueens is a bit weird))

(Thanks to Englishrussia for inspiration)
